DONALD BURROUGHS Obituary

Donald Keith Burroughs Donald was born July 7, 1925 in Spokane, WA; passed on March 2, 2011, at the age of 85. He was a WWII Vet, and he proudly served on the USS Tutuila (ARG-4), as a signalman. He sailed through the Panama Canal on this ship, and almost realized his dream to see the Panama Canal again on a planned cruise this April. He left a legacy that was very important to him, Sportco, a successful sporting goods store in Fife, WA. Eventually Donald retired in Sandpoint, ID. Don was an avid sportsman, and was a "John Wayne" type man, as he hunted the old fashioned way, by trail riding into the mountains on his own horses and mules. He was an expert in guns, an avid fisherman, and he loved to fly his airplane when possible. Don is survived by his loving wife, Carol, of 25 years. His first wife, Doreen, of 33 years, had three daughters together: Debbie (Jon), granddaughters Kalin and Lindsey, his youngest daughter, Gloria (Gene), and grandsons, Ryan and Austin. In peace, Don has now joined his oldest daughter, Christina Ann, leaving his oldest surviving grandchild, Erica (Eric). Don passed away while vacationing at his usual winter haven, Mazatlan, Mexico. A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, this summer. As he requested his ashes will be spread over his favorite place he loved - Lake Pend O'Reille, ID - where he fished, swam, and boated. He will be remembered with great love and admiration.
