Edna Alice Gunderson Our beloved mother went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Puyallup. She was born January 7, 1926 and was 85 years young. Preceding her in death were her parents Wayne and Hilda Smith, her brother Wayne "Bud" Smith (Gloria), and her sisters Lola Curtis (Clifford) and Evelyn Nimick. We know there is a reunion in Heaven and we are comforted. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl Hammermeister (Robert Sr.) and Janet Larson (John), 9 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. Born in Mossbank, Saskatchewan, Canada, Edna lived the majority of her life in Pierce County. She was proud to become a U.S. citizen and attended Sumner schools. In high school and beyond she sang with her sisters and Laurie Higgins for school functions, U.S.O., and many social events. We were blessed to have a loving family and growing up with a huge extended family on both sides. All occasions and holidays were celebrated. There were many dances attended, pinochle parties, camping trips every summer, and hunting and fishing trips. Our mother worked at Ma's Place for 22 years before retiring. She was always telling jokes, was very witty, and had a great sense of humor. To know her was to love her. You will be fiercely missed, Mother, until we reunite again. Memorial services will be hled Saturday, April 16th, 2011 at 11am at Ridgecrest LDS Church, 12407 Military Road, Puyallup.
