Elbert M. Durkee

Elbert M. Durkee Elbert Durkee, loving husband of Barbara and father to Norman, Mark, Brian, Debra and Alan Durkee, passed on to join our Heavenly Father on March 31, 2011. Born February 2, 1929 in Nebraska, Elbert lived a life dedicated to his family and his love of music, fishing, hunting and driving. Elbert and Barbara, married for 63 years, were devout members of the Tacoma Alliance Church where Elbert served as the music director for many years. Elbert's passion for music inspired him to participate in the Male Orpheus Choir and later the Jubilee Quartet. Former proprietor of the Graphic Press and earlier a delivery mgr. at Rhodes Dept. Store, Elbert worked as he lived with a strong work ethic and a passion for excellence. Elbert is survived by his loving wife, five children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at the Tacoma Alliance Church, 2401 So. Orchard St. Tacoma, WA 98466 on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 1pm.
