GEORGE HEMMINGER Sr.

George Shimer Hemminger, Sr. Born Carlisle, PA July 29, 1919 to John and Miriam Hemminger. Passed on to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 19, 2011, Nordene, his wife of 63 years, at his side. Predeceased by brothers Dave, Bob and John. Our loving husband and father is also survived by his children Miriam (Ken) Thiesen and Albert Hemminger, both of Spokane, WA, and George Jr. (Julia) of Lake Tapps, WA, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. George served his country in the Navy during WWII. He worked for the U.S. Postal service for 32 years, retiring in 1979. Dad was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and served the Lord in the bus ministry and behind the scenes in the kitchen for many functions. George and Nordene also served faithfully at the Northwest Baptist Seminary. Dad enjoyed salmon fishing, working in his yard, bowling, playing softball, jigsaw puzzles, and camping in their motor home with his kids and grandkids. Dad was also known to be a jokester, and loved a good practical joke and had a witty dry humor about him. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Dad was a humble man and lived by the words of Jesus, Dad we all love you and you will be missed. A celebration of Dad's life will be at Temple Baptist Church, Tacoma, WA, April 2, 2011, at 2:00 pm.
