Hugh Kneeland Obituary

Hugh (Bud) Franklin Kneeland Born November 8, 1926 in Tacoma, WA to parents Gertrude T. and Hugh S. Kneeland, Hugh attended school in Buckley, WA. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1945. As a young man Hugh worked as a movie projectionist, and met his future wife, Anna, while both worked at a Puyallup movie theater. He married Anna Durant in 1952. Hugh attended Bates Vocational School, obtained an operating engineers license, was a member of IBEW Local 483, and worked as a television engineer and camera man in Tacoma and Portland, Oregon. Hugh's life passion was fulfilling his role as a husband, father, brother, and son. Hugh was an outdoorsman and enjoyed an active lifestyle, including maintaining his family home and acreage, fishing, hunting, and walking. Hugh passed away on April 10, 2011 following a short illness while visiting his sister in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Hugh was preceded in death by his wife Anna in 1994, a brother, Rex Kneeland, and sisters Nell Jorgenson, Gertrude Otis, and Beverly Vosper. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Carlson of Elma, Kathy Bowen of Puyallup, and Karen Morrison of Harsteine Island, and a son, David Kneeland of Enumclaw. Surviving siblings include his brother Gene Kneeland of Brinnon, sisters Janice Gibson and Frances Sutherland of Sun Lakes, Arizona, and Marilyn Arends of Tacoma. Hugh was a beloved grandfather to nine children and great-grandfather to ten children. Graveside services will be held at the Sumner City Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23rd, 2011. An open house will follow at the family home in Buckley. Arrangements are by Weeks Funeral Home, Buckley, WA.
