JAMES LYON

James Boyd Lyon Passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at his home in Tacoma, Washington. He was born in Tacoma on June 21, 1933 to Bernice and Everett Lyon, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Darlene. A graduate of Stadium High School in 1951, Jim spent four years serving in the U. S. Navy in the Atlantic. Upon returning home he began working at the Asarco Smelter in Ruston. It was during this time Jim met and married the love of his life, Darlene Nelson. In 1961 he began a 34-year career in the airline industry, first with Western Airlines and then with Delta Airlines. After retirement, Jim took on a part-time job with Wal-Mart, greatly enjoying his interaction with customers and co-workers up until his passing. He proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 10 years, first with the North Puyallup Fire Department, then with the Riverside Fire Department. Besides keeping his yard immaculate, Jim loved to fish and hunt with his boys, feed the donkeys with his grandkids, and read "The Night Before Christmas" to all of his family on Christmas Eve. Jim is survived by his sons Tracy (Christie), John (Teresa), and Jeff (Kim), his grandchildren Tracey (Tiffany), Brittney (Danny), Travis, Kelsey, Larissa, Sierra, and Brett, and great-grandchildren Fallyn and Parker. The pain of losing you is made easier knowing you and Mom are together once again. We love you both! A celebration of his life will be held at the Puyallup Elk's Club, 11:00 am, on February 19th, 2011. Donations in his name can be made to Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.
