JOHN DIONAS Obituary

John "The Greek" Dionas John Dionas, of Gig Harbor, passed away January 24th, 2011 at the age of 80. John was raised in Tacoma and attended Stadium High School. Upon graduation John joined the Navy and "saw the world". After his time in the Navy, John returned to Tacoma to raise his family. He went to work in the construction industry, eventually retiring as a superintendent for the S. D. L. Corporation. John was a great cook, gardener, and craftsman. He could build anything! John loved spending time with his dog Sophie greeting "the walkers", and shopping the grocery stores in Gig Harbor looking for the best deal! We will miss his tuff exterior that hid a teddy bear interior. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jardice, mother Helen, father Steve, and nephew Dick. John is survived by his son John (Melinda) of Gig Harbor, grandchildren Melaina, Nicholas, Joe and Jake, stepson Dale, stepdaughter Easter, step-grandson Curtis, brother Perry (Jackie) of Sumner, many nieces and nephews, his cousin Catherine Turlis, and his best friend Sophie (his Chihuahua). A celebration of John's life will be held on February 3rd, 2011, his 81st birthday, at 4:00 p.m. at Haven of Rest Chapel, Gig Harbor. Reception to follow. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Oliveira, Dr. Bergman, and the staff of St. Anthony Hospital and Cottesmore of Life Center for John's excellent and loving care. As John would say, "see ya in the spring!"
