KENNETH BROWN Obituary

Kenneth Lawrence Brown Kenneth Brown passed peacefully at his home on Feb. 9th, 2011 and completed his last High Flight as he "slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God". Ken was born in Murphysboro, IL to Bernice and Wilferd Brown on Sept. 24th, 1939. He graduated from high school in Chateraux, France, then entered Southern Illinois University for two years before joining the U.S. Air Force to become a career officer. He received his navigator wings at Harlingen, TX and later entered pilot training at Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA, where he earned his pilot wings. He remained at Moody AFB as an instructor pilot for several years, followed by assignments to Thailand during Vietnam, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ and Beale AFB, CA. In 1984 Ken retired as a Lt. Col. at Beale AFB after 20 years of service in the Air Force. Ken loved his country and served it with dedication and honor. Ken is survived by his children whom he loved and enjoyed: son Michael Brown of Sacramento, CA and Michael's life partner Brendan Kearney, daughter Kelly Brown Terenas and husband Mario of Fort Bliss, TX, and Ken's two granddaughters, Alex and Sofia Terenas, who will miss their Grandpa very much. Also survived by his father Wilferd Brown of the home, and sisters Barbara Blustein of CA, Debbie Stanley of WA, Donna Rose of CA, cousin Robyn Bantel, and several nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his brother Mike in 1967, and his mother in 1995. At his wishes, Ken was cremated with no services.

We were friends with Ken and took care of his pets at our Veterinary office in Ohio. We loved visiting with Ken and listening to his stories, especially of his beloved grandchildren. He delivered meals-on-wheels locally and was always there to give of his time and talents. He will be greatly missed by his far away friends. Please accept our deepest condolences.

Ken was my father. My sister, Kelly, and I are very proud to have been his children. He was a phenomenal man who befriended everyone he met. We could not have asked for a better dad, and we miss him dearly.
