Larry Grissom Obituary

Larry A. Grissom Larry A. Grissom, 62, of Fircrest, died April 9, 2011. He was born December 12, 1948 in Dallas, Texas to Melvin and Wilma (Rasmussen) Grissom, both deceased. He grew up and attended schools in Tacoma, graduating from Wilson High School in 1967. He attended the University of Puget Sound and Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon, graduating from the latter in the early 1970s with a degree in history. He was a long-haul truck driver for most of his adult life. He was an avid student of Civil War history and an accomplished genealogist, with interest in both the southern roots of his father and the Scandinavian ancestry of his mother. He attended Sixth Avenue Baptist Church in Tacoma. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Jenkins, Tacoma, and cousins Susanne Lewis, Issaquah; Robert Merry, McLean, Virginia; Jack Merry, Gig Harbor; Carol Hendershot, Tacoma; Wendy Werttemberger, Everett; Ted Wilcox, Roy; and Randy Reed, Tacoma. A private family celebration of his life is planned.

Larry was a very sweet man I always enjoyed the times he would come visit me at the office. He will be missed. My prayers go out to his family I am so sorry for your loss.
