Lorna Eyres Obituary

Lorna M. Eyres 2/26/1925 to 4/1/2011 Born to William and Mabel Miller in Tacoma, she was their last surviving child of that union. She was preceded in death by siblings, an infant sister, and brothers Leonard and Jim, husband Harold V. Eyres, to whom she was married for over 50 years, and children, son Christopher and daughter Jane. Survivors include her loving daughter Cynthia and son-in law Terry S. La Roque, grandchildren Tammy, Leon, Michelle, Katherine and Delaney, and great-grandchildren Zachery, Alyssa, Brianna and Kiley. Also many numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. After learning how to drive, she became very independent and started to do volunteer work at local hospital gift shops for many years. Her deep faith in God carried her throughout her life. She was passionate about various church activities, especially singing in the church choir. The gentle nature about her made her dear to many people. She was a member of Manitou Presbyterian Church for many years. She moved to the Villa, where she made many new friends and enjoyed the many activities, playing cards, and board games. While living there, she enjoyed the family coming to visit so she could show off her grandchildren to all of her new acquaintances. Whenever you saw her she was forever working cross-words. Her family wishes to thank the Staff of Manor Care for the wonderful care that she received from them. And a special thank you to Pastor Ken Sikes for the many nursing home visits, and the compassion and comfort that he gave to the whole family during her final days. Viewing will be 10am to 9pm April 8th, 2011 at Mountain View. Services will be in the Mountain View Garden Chapel Saturday, April 9th, at 2pm.

Many fond memories of grandma over the years of me being part of your family, She will be remembered and missed terribly, and she will have her little cups of black coffee anytime she wants, :). I will cherish my last moments with her alone days prior to her passing and hold that silent moment with me always,...holding her hand that still wears the ring of her beloved husband...they are together again and forever...all my love.

Hello Family of Lorna,
I worked in the lab at Puget Sound Hospital in the 1980's and until 1992. For about a year, Lorna came to my department and did filing for me. She was the only volunteer I ever had and I adored her. She came regularly and did good work. Lorna always was pleasant and had such a sweet smile. I have thought of her over the years, esp when thinking of my work days there at PSH. My sympathies to all of you for your loss of Lorna. Byrna Klavano
