Margie Reynolds Obituary

Margie Lou (Cope) Reynolds Margie was born in Tacoma to Hector and Margaret Cope on 11/10/1936 and went to be with the Lord on 4/9/2011, passing peacefully in her sleep. She attended schools in Tacoma, and met and married Robert "Rob" Reynolds on 4/11/1958 in a blessed union that lasted 53 years. Marge was a beautiful lady, who, through many trials, proved herself to be as beautiful inside as she was in appearance. She became a dedicated Christian and worked tirelessly for her faith as a devoted wife, mother and member of her church families at Parkway, Marine View, and Calvary Presbyterian Churches. She worked at several answering services before she became an invaluable admitting person at the St Joseph Emergency Clinic in Federal Way. This clinic helped establish the need for a hospital in Federal Way, which led to St Francis Hospital being built there, so she proudly proclaimed herself to be one of the "Founding Mothers" of St Francis, where she worked for about 15 years. Poor health forced her to take disability retirement in 1994, at which time she embarked on one of the great experiences of her life, when she accompanied, as a one-person Support Team, her husband Rob as he made a walk of the entire perimeter of the US. This walk covered 11,433 miles over 4 years on behalf of Mission Aviation Fellowship, a Christian organization that provides flight and communication services to Christ's work in remote areas of the world. She worked continuously to raise funds, support, and recognition of MAF's work while Rob did the walking. After the successful completion of "Walking the USA for the World", she and Rob continued to live in their RV, and traveled extensively around the US, wintering in Arizona or Texas but always returning to the Tacoma area. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Bonnie Tyler and Darlene Budiselich, and is survived by her husband Rob, three children, Tommie (Selwyn) of Huntsville, AL, Stuart (fiancée Suzi) of Renton, and Alicia of Portland, OR, two grandchildren, Breana Wilkins of Nashville and Andrew of Huntsville, and one great-grandson, Jacob Wilkins. A family service will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 1:00, Friday, 4/15/2011, at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Enumclaw. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Calvary Presbyterian, which will be earmarked for MAF.

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Rob at the bank in 1955-56. I would love to talk to him. Betty Backstrom

Margie worked for me at the answering service and was a valued person. Having know both of them for many years prior, I know that Rob has lost a strong link in his life. She knew the Lord and is better off. We had followed the walking trip as it was printed from time to time in the newspaper. We are at our home in Indio, CA and will not be back to Tacoma to attend the services. Our prayers are with the family at this time of loss. God bless all of you.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to Margie's family. I have known Margie since 1945, and had lost contact with her. The Cope family were not only neighbors of ours in Tacoma, but my father worked for her father at Cope's Poultry Market on Pacific Ave. She was always a 'bubbly' person, even when things were 'down'. I know the Angels are rejoicing at her 'homecoming'.
