Today, May 6th, 2011, Uncle Mario will be laid to rest after a full and fulfilling life. His loss if felt hard. As his nephew I have many great family memories of times here in Chicago and Tacoma. Somehow there was always an incredible meal involved. He was also my doctor as I grew up and because he was my mother's brother, and an excellent doctor, as mentioned elsewhere, a good portion of our neighbors were also his patients. Some still ask about him. I miss him but I hope he, his sisters and brothers are enjoying a wonderful family reunion.

Dr Mario, as our family Knew him had a tremendous inpact on the Plank family. in adition to being one of our father's oldest and best friends, he is credited literally with saving the life of Walter Plank. In 1969 my father suffered his first heart attack, it was Mario who with his trained hands brought our father back to life from cardiac arrest. I personally will always be so thankful for that. Mario was such a good and loyal freind to the Plank family. We all miss him, both as a friend but also as family doctor. We all honored his decision to return to the military, and proud to have known him. We always enjoyed spending time with Dr Mario, and all his family.
The miltary honors that will be afforded him on Friday can only be a small token of thanks, for his lifetime of service.
Grayce and all the children remain in our memories, and prayers.

I was honored to have the Colonel as my doctor while on active duty at McChord. He performed one of my re-enlistment ceremonies for me very graciously. Very dignified and always a great smile. A true loss. He will be missed. One of the best commanders the clinic ever had.
A salute to you sir.

I'm proud to say that I was among Mario's many, many friends. I met him when he was Commander of the 62d Medical Group. He was a great boss. If we had a big project at work, he and his wife (Amazing Grayce) would bring out their RV and Grayce would prepare homemade Italian sausge and spaghetti and serve us all --how many folks would do that! And, I loved all his stories, what a great life he had. He will be greatly missed.
