MONA WALLACE Obituary
Mona Louise Wallace Age 87 Mona Louise Gee was born Feb. 27th, 1923 in Merrick County, NE to Ralph and Gladys (Lawson) Gee. Mona attended 1st grade to 9th grade at several small one-room schools in Nebraska's Dust Bowl. In 1937, Mona moved to Apple Valley, ID and went to Parma High School and graduated in 1940. After graduation Mona went to Boise Business University in Boise, ID. Mona and Vestal Wallace were married on July 7th, 1941 in Caldwell, ID. Mona met Vestal on a blind date, and they later got together after attending Boise Business University. Mona started work in March of 1941 as a bookkeeper for the Boyer Brothers Grocery. In 1950 they moved to Sunnyside, WA, and Mona became the secretary/librarian at Outlook Grade School for over 10 years. In 1967 they moved to Des Moines, WA and she worked for Highline School DIstrict as a librarian until retirement. Mona loved cake decorating, crafts of many types, genealogy, and working for Heritage Quest genealogy magazine for several years. She was a pianist at the church and the grange. She also played the accordion around the campfire when camping at Buck Lake. Mona was a Grange member since the 50's, lifetime member of First Christian Church, member of Tacoma Genealogy Club, the Rebekah Lodge, and secretary/member of Buck Lake Camping Association. Survivors include son James (Gloria) Wallace of Wapato, WA, daughter-in-law Carol Wallace of Poulsbo, WA, one brother, Bob Gee of Seattle, WA, and two sisters, Lois (Mel) Moore of Yakima, WA, and Jackie (Franklin) Galvanick of Greeley, CO. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Vestal Wallace in 1987, two sons, Lloyd Wallace in 2000 and Robert Wallace in 2009, and her parents. In her memory, please make donations to Emerald Care, a non-profit organization, for the wonderful care in Mona's last days. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, March, 1, 2011, with burial March, 3, 2011 at in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Renton, WA.
