ROGER STROUD Obituary

ROGER STROUD Roger went peacefully to join his Heavenly Father on February 24, 2011. Roger was born on August 1, 1942 to Randall and Leona Stroud in Chehalis, Washington. At the age of 8, his family moved to Puyallup where his father was postmaster for many years. He graduated from Puyallup High School in 1961 and attended Centralia Junior College. He later received his B.A. and Masters from U.P.S. Roger worked for the Corps of Engineers in Alaska and J.M. McConkey Company in Sumner. In 1970, Roger married the love of his life, Barbara, and was blessed with two wonderful sons Bill and Jim. Roger was a great husband, proud father, loving grandfather and a friend to all. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, sons, Bill, Jim (Monica), his adored grandchildren, Adam, Ben, Mia and Mariana. Roger is also survived by his sister Joanne (Sparky) Gamaunt, many cherished relatives and wonderful friends. We would like to thank Bonnie, Jenny, Yolanda and Pat for lovingly taking care of Roger in our home, and Linden Grove, Caring Arms Adult Family Home and Good Sam Hospice for continuing that support. A heartfelt thank you to his doctors, Dr. Michael Priebe, Dr. Elizabeth Lien, and the staff at Providence Infusion and Pharmacy. A special thank you to Dr. Jerry Duris for his compassionate care throughout the years and who has been a beacon of strength for us during this difficult time. Roger was a member of the First Christian Church since childhood and his life will be celebrated at a memorial on March 19, 2011, 2:00PM, at the First Christian Church, 623 9th Ave S.W., Puyallup, 98371. Auntie Barbara, What a beautiful service at the church for Uncle Roger. It was so comforting to look out and see the church overflowing with people who loved Uncle Roger and wanted to support you by coming to his memorial. I am grateful for First Christian Church and their hard work yesterday to make it such a beautiful ceremony.

Barbara...I'm so sorry to here about Roger's passing. Although I hadn't seen him for several years, you both were always in my fondest memories of our raising children together.I'm eternally grateful for the friendship and help Roger gave me as we coached our boys through their years of Basketball. His constant support was never in question and, although he had to battle his own medical issues, I could always count on him to be at my side as our teams went through their formative years in the game. Your care has surely been a blessing to him and I know I'll never have a truer friend. He'll be in my fondest memories of raising my children forever. Jim
