Timothy Mish Obituary

Timothy G. Mish Age 58, beloved brother and uncle, died April 1, 2011 in the loving presence of his sister, brother, and sister-in-law at the Tacoma Lutheran Home. The cause was colon cancer. Tim was born and raised in Bay City, MI, the youngest of Edward and Edna Mish's three children. Although severe complications in childbirth threatened both Tim's and his mother's lives, both survived to lead healthy, productive lives. He attended St. Boniface Elementary School, Handy High, and Central Michigan University, where he earned a B.A. in psychology. After returning to school to study computer science in Cleveland, he worked briefly at Union Carbide there until he accepted a job offer from Boeing Aerospace in Washington State in 1979. In the course of his work as an NC programmer, he travelled to destinations as diverse as Detroit, Nashville, and Montreal, and as far away as Spain and Germany. He retired from Boeing in 2008. He enjoyed golf, bowling, his extensive collection of rock music of the '60s and '70s, and especially the home-cooked family dinners. His family will never forget his steady, comforting presence, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his ability to take life as it comes without ever a complaint. All who saw him in the last months of his illness were struck by his inner strength in calmly facing the cancer ravaging his body. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother Charles (Clarissa) of Seattle, his sister Cynthia of Tacoma, nephews Will and Ben (Cathy) of Seattle, and grandnephews Andrew and Max. Special thanks to the compassionate staff of Allenmore Hospital, the Franciscan Hospice, and the Tacoma Lutheran Home. Funeral will be April 13, 2011 at St. Boniface in Bay City. Donations in Tim's name may be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W, University Place, WA 98466, or a charity of your choice.

We are shocked and saddened to hear of Tim's passing. Tim & I were high school friends and he was best man at our wedding (8-12-72). We lost touch after Tim moved away but the memories of hanging out & listening to music in his basement seem like yesterday. Our sympathies go out to you.

Tim was a great guy. He will be missed by many. I worked with him for over 20 years at Boeing with the N/C Tool Programming group. I worked with him on many projects. He always had a great attitude and got along with everyone. I am sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

Tim was the most helpful, knowledgable and competent programmer I knew when I started working with him in the mid '80's. In more enjoyable settings, he was a fun golf partner and a dangerous 8-ball competitor. I will always remember Tim with fondness. May his family and friends find comfort in the quality in which Tim lived.

Cindy - So sorry to hear of your brother's passing. I lost my brother in August, 2007. He was 56. To this day I sometimes still think I can pick up the phone and talk to him. With both of my parents gone, he was all I had left. It sounds like your brother had a fulfilling life and many accomplishments.

Tim's passing was terribly sad news to me as I was a friend and co-worker at Boeing for about 10 years. We had a lot of interesting discussions over that time and I will miss Tim's wit and friendly demeanor a lot. He was very well respected in the NC programming community. Having just retired from Boeing myself, it only serves to confirm my decision to spend the rest of my time enjoying the time I have left. Please accept my heart-felt condolences in this time of loss.

We bowled a few frames and drank a few beers and programmed a few jobs together - goodbye Tim - you will be missed
