Ivan LeRoy Brunson

Ivan LeRoy Brunson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Ivan was born to Nora M. Day Brunson Jackson and Isaac F. Brunson, March 5, 1940 in Fillmore, Utah. He attended grade school and Jr. High in Fillmore and graduated High School through the US Army. Dad served 3 1/2 years with Sharp Shooter Status where he began his respect for guns. Dad married Joan C. Murdock, December 15, 1961. They raised three children. They toured countless places on their Interstate Bike and four wheeler. Mom and Dad lived in Leamington for 39 years making friends, volunteering time to town events and activities, working on the house and yard. Dad lived a full life and most of it with his "Best Friend". Mom. Somehow he fit family and friends into his many activities. Dad worked at Brush Resources for 32 years, retiring in 2001. Dad enjoyed trap shooting with his friends and family for many years and would challenge the best. Collecting guns, reloading, maintaining and shooting them, gave him a lot of pride. He rode his horses in most of the canyons in the county and always had to have a dog to throw a stick for. He loved a good Louis L'Amour book and a John Wayne movie. Dad will be missed by many friends and family. Preceded in death by: his wife, Joan; daughter, Sherril Lin; his parents and brother, Frank. He is survived by; sons, Jeff (Darlene), Delta; Cary (Vickl), Ely, Nevada; daughter, Michele (Randy) Fields, Payson; brothers, Kenneth, Fillmore; David, California; Jay Jackson, Murray; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. There will be a viewing for family and friends on Saturday, November 19, 2011, 10:00 a.m. -12:00 noon at the Leamington, Utah LDS Ward Chapel, 90 South Center Street. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenville, Utah Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mortuary in Payson, Utah. The family would like to express appreciation to those who took care of Dad: Hearthstone Manor in Spanish Fork; Heritage Hills in Nephi; Centeral Valley Hospital in Nephi; Hospice. Those are special people and not only took care of Dad, but truly cared for him.
