Ella D. Hackney Tilley LEBANON, Va. Ella D. Hackney Tilley, age 90, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009. She was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Cleveland, Va., a daughter of the late Laughton and Addie Sutherland Hackney and was the wife of the late Glen O. Tilley. She was a resident of Bristol, Virginia until 2005, and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard, Fred and Joe Hackney. Survivors include one sister, Norma Jewell Hill and husband Bill, Abingdon; three brothers, Woody Hackney and wife Myrtle, Carbo; Scott Hackney and wife Reba, Weber City, and Jessee Hackney and wife Zola, Lebanon,; one foster daughter, Donna Hurst and husband Craig, Oklahoma City, Okla.; also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the loving owner and staff of the Hummingbird Retirement Villa, and the Home Nursing Care. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, in the Combs Funeral Service chapel with the Rev. Austin Cook and the Rev. Leonard Ferguson officiating. Music will be provided by the Jessee family and April Hackney. Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, in the Russell Memorial Cemetery. Those attending are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Hackney, Mark Hackney, David Hackney, Paul Campbell, Gary Campbell, Bobby Joe Kiser and Craig Hurst. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Slemp, Roy Castle, and Earl Campbell. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, prior to the service at the funeral home.
