Alice Marie "Junnie" Reid BRISTOL, Va. Alice Marie "Junnie" Reid, age 65, passed away Jan. 16, 2012, at the Wellmont Hospice House. Born in Greenville, S.C., she was the only child of Alice Marie and Walter Jureski. A longtime resident of Stowe, Vt. Junnie spent the last two years at Grand Court Assisted Living, Bristol, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents as well as her step-brother, David Slack. Junnie lived in the light of Christ and was a member of Cornerstone Chapel, Bristol, Tenn. Junnie was an animal lover and avid gardener. She learned to ride horses at an early age and later owned stables and a riding school in Stowe. Junnie was also a dog breeder. Her beloved Shelties were shown throughout the Eastern U.S. as well as Canada and Germany. In addition to these passions, Junnie was a successful realtor with Coldwell Banker. Survivors include her two cousins, Faye Green and husband, Bill, Richmond, Va. and Jean McNamara and husband, Bob, San Antonio, Texas. as well as Aunt Norma Lewis and husband, Bubes, Zebulon, N.C. Other survivors include step-mother, Judith Jureski, and step-brother, Theodore C. Slack Jr., Miami. Friends left to cherish Junnie's memory are Linda Henzel, Waterbury, Vt. and Sue and Ted Slack, Lebanon, Va. and as well as her church family and her many friends at Grand Court. Special gratitude is extended to Junnie's loving companions Susan Christiansen, Betty Gross, Norma Gobble, Jeannie Chapman, Kenneth Statzer and Cami Callahan. Deepest appreciation is expressed for the care given to Junnie by Dr. Andrew Brockmyre, the staff of Three West at Bristol Regional and the staff of the Hospice House. A celebration of Junnie's life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, Grand Court Bristol. Contributions in memory of Junnie Reid may be made to Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, Tn. 37620 or Cornerstone Chapel, 1745 King College Road, Bristol, Tn. 37620. Junnie will be placed beside her father in Woodlawn Cemetery, Miami. Cremation Society of Virginia is in charge.
