Betty Sue Teaster King RURAL RETREAT, Va. Betty Sue Teaster King age 73, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010. She was born in Smyth County, Va., on July 7, 1937, the daughter of the late George W. and Minnie Barr Teaster. Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth; infant sisters, Rachel and Eva Mae; brothers, Elmer "Doc", Harold "Had", Roy Lee, Frank, Neal, Russell "Pete"; and a granddaughter, Tina Michelle Hancock. She is survived by: her husband, Simon P. King; her children, Jeffrey and wife Dawn Lowe of Rural Retreat, Pamela Sue Frye of Marion, Va., Dawn King, David King, both of the home; grandchildren, Ashley Sutherland, Hunter Lowe, Rebecca Jennings; special great-grandson, Jamie Jennings; sister and brother-in-law, Tootsie and Port Blevins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Lucille Teaster; Gene and Guita Teaster, Herbert and Bobbie Teaster, all of Marion; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at the Lindsey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clayton Hounshell officiating, with a graveside committal service to be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until service time or at the home at any time. Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat, is in charge of arrangements.
