Beulah Woody Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2010.
Beulah Bolling Woody BRISTOL, Tenn. On Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, Beulah Bolling Woody, 79, of Blountville, Tenn., breathed her last breath of earthly air. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Preston Woody, who predeceased her, in the Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum in Bristol Virginia, where her adored daughter, Dawn Woody White, angelic granddaughter, Cameron Alexis White, and loving mother, Lydia Victoria Bolling are also laid to rest. Mrs. Woody was born in Esserville, Wise County, Va., on Jan. 15, 1931, the daughter of Arthur and Lydia Victoria Bolling; and was the younger sister of Arnold and Glenn Bolling, all who predeceased her. A 1948 graduate of Wise High School, she became the bride of Charles Preston Woody, and they blessed this world with five beautiful daughters and nine amazing grandchildren. Mrs. Woody devoted her life to her children, her pets, and her renowned gardens filled with flowering peonies, roses, pansies, and geraniums. After raising her daughters, she worked along side her husband at his industrial equipment business, The Woody Company in Bristol Virginia. She is survived by her daughters, Lydia Ann Turner, and husband Jerry, of Kingsport, Tenn., June Woody Deyerle McPherson, and her husband, David, of Midlothian, Va., Yvonne Woody Harper, and her husband Will, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Candice Sullivan of Nashville, Tenn.; her son-in-law, Adrian White of Bristol Virginia; and her eight grandchildren, Leigh Ann Wilson, and her husband, Scott, Adie and Preston White, all of Bristol Virginia, Shaver Deyerle of Blacksburg, Va., Holli and Kati Deyerle of Midlothian, and Whit and Wes Harper of Spartanburg. Mrs. Woody was a mother-figure for multitudes of Bristol's children who were friends of her daughters. Her cheery smile, twinkle in her eye, grace, courage and loving demeanor will be missed by many. And although she cannot be seen, she is still with us. A mother such as this is more than a memoryshe is a living presence. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the dedicated staff at Greystone Nursing Home, in Blountville; the ER Acute Care, ICU, and Hospice staff at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. The funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. David Stancil officiating. A private entombment will held at Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 7 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home. E-mail condolences may be sent to the family at [email protected] Akard Funeral Home, 1912 W. State St., Bristol, TN (423) 989-4800, is serving the family of Mrs. Woody.

Dearest Lydia, June, Yvonne, and Candice,
I am so very sorry to hear about the death of your sweet mother. She was a precious lady. Warm, kind, generous, loving and wise. I have so many lovely memories of her. God blessed me by allowing me to be a part of Dawn's life and by allowing me to experience the love of a mother through Mrs. Woody. Please accept my deepest sympathy. What a precious, precious woman she was.

June, Lydia, Yvonne, and Candice,
My deepest sympathy to all of you at this sad time. I am a first cousin of Beulah's and I've never met any of you --just knew your names. I did not see the obit. in paper until late Fri. night when scanning 2 papers! As a kid, I always liked to go see Beulah and Uncle Arthur and Aunt Lydia. Beulah came to my Dad's funeral in '90 and that was the last time I've seen her. I lived in Fredericksburg, VA, for 25 yrs. and did not move back to the area until end of '96, so we were just not in touch over the years. I am the dau. of Wanda and Vollie Bolling, Uncle Arthur's brother. I have one brother, Chad, who lives at Dryden, VA, in Lee County.

I pray the happy memories you have of Beulah will ease the sadness you feel at this time. May God bless all of you.
