Bron Duncan Jr. DAMASCUS, Va. Bron Duncan Jr., age 80, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at James H. Quillen V.A. Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn. He was a life long resident of Washington County, Va., and was a son of the late Bron and Annie Duncan. He entered service into the U.S. Air Corps for three years and then entered the U.S. Navy completing a total of 20 years of service. He retired from Columbus-McKinnon Corporation in Damascus and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Mr. Duncan had spent many hours of community service serving on various committees for the town of Damascus. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Barnett and Valdia Barnett. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty M. Duncan; one daughter, Evelyn Duncan Sironko and her husband Philip T. Sironko, of Perrysburg, Ohio; one son, Bron Duncan III and his wife Lakricia Duncan, of Roanoke, Va.; one sister, Shirley Parrish of Lakewood, Ohio; three grandchildren, Rebecca Duncan Sutphin and her husband Mark, Ben Duncan Sironko, and Andrew Duncan Sironko; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at the graveside at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Wayne Guynn officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Highlands Fellowship Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Ben Duncan Sironko, Andrew Duncan Sironko, Pete Watkins, Danny Campbell, Samuel Campbell, and Donald Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Holmes, Eugene Blevins, John Seymore, Kenneth Upchurch, and the deacons of the First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 1:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the graveside service at Garrett Funeral Home or at any other times at the residence. The family, minister, pallbearers, and friends will all go in procession to the cemetery from the funeral home at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
