Carolyn Salyer GATE CITY, Va. Carolyn Musick Salyer, 79, of East Carter's Valley went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday morning, Oct. 6, 2010. She was born in Russell County, Va., and resided in Scott County the majority of her life. Carolyn retired from Nationwide Insurance with 25 years of service. She was a faithful member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Ed" Salyer; her parents, Ed and Florence Gibson Musick; along with four brothers and four sisters. Carolyn Salyer is survived by her daughters, Pam Woods, Kingsport, Tenn., Jill Mallen, St. Petersburg, Fla.; a grandson, Bryan Woods and wife, Melissa, Church Hill, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Brittany Mallen, St. Petersburg, Fla.; great granddaughters, McKayla Woods and Mallie Rose Woods; two sisters, Myrtle Tate and Madge Herndon both of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Emory Guy Musick, Kingsport, Tenn., and her twin, Carol Musick and wife, Shirley, Bristol, Virginia along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at her residence in East Carters Valley. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Peters officiating. Music will be provided by Patty Tipton and the Apostolic Lighthouse Singers. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery with Mike Clark, Bryan Woods, Carol Musick, Steve Kincer, Eric Tyree, Billy Fletcher and Jackie Woods serving as pallbearers.
