Clinton Steele Obituary

Clinton D. Steele Sr. Mr. Clinton D. Steele Sr. passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 18, 2010, at Asbury Place of Johnson City, Tenn. He was a life member of the VFW Post No. 14000 and also a member of American Legion Post No. 0024, Masons of California Coastside Lodge No. 762, Eastern Star Golden Gate Chapter No. 1 and The Salvation Army Church. He was also a soldier of the Salvation Army Church and band master for over 65 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edward and Lydia Mae Jones Steele; two sisters, Vera Greenfield and Mae Elizabeth Estoll; three brothers, George Steele, John L. Steele, William H. Steele; and a son, Clinton D. Steele Jr. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hayden Steele; a daughter, Judith A. Davis and husband, Douglas of Salt Lake City; a daughter-in-law, Georgia Steele of Wasilla, Alaska; a brother, James E. Steele Jr. and wife, Thelma of San Francisco; a brother in-law, Jack Estoll of San Jose, Calif., a sister-in-law, Bonnie Steele of Gaithersburg, Md.; six grandchildren, Tina Bentley and husband, Paul, of Wasilla, June Nicloy and husband, Scott, Anita D. Fischer of Anchorage, Alaska, Clinton D. Steele III, of Keizer, Ore., Joyce Koplin and husband Darrell of Salt Lake City, and Ruth Nieminski and husband Art of Johnson City; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that loved him. The funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, in the Glenwood Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Stephen Steele and Major Jerry Mullins officiating. The family will receive friends 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Salvation Army of Bristol for the Music Scholarship Fund in memory of Band Master Clinton Steele, P.O. Box 887, Bristol, TN 37621. Akard Funeral Home, 1912 W. State St., Bristol, TN (423) 989-4800, is serving the family of Mr. Steele.

To the Steele family so sorry to here about Clint he was our neighbor and my friend for many years. He was a man of God and I know that the Angels and Clint are singing in that Heavenly Choir. May God be with you all.
