Donald Ray Brown Sr. ABINGDON, Va. Donald Ray Brown Sr., 74, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2010, at his home. He was born Aug. 31, 1935, in Abingdon, and was a son of the late Charlie Ray and Martha Ethelene Carswell Brown. He was a lifelong resident of the Green Springs Community and had made his living farming. He was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Leonard; and a granddaughter, Ashley Lane White. Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Joyce Moore Brown; his son, Donald Ray Brown Jr. and wife, Suzanne Grace, of Fredericksburg, Va.; three daughters, Reba Elizabeth Profitt and husband, Stephen , Donna Faye Groseclose and husband, Timothy. and Mary Ellen Roark and husband, Michael. all of Abingdon; brother, Charles Hunter Brown and wife, Lois. of Abingdon; sister, Linda K. Counts and husband, Roger. of Salem, Va.; and seven grandchildren, Steven White, Mary Elizabeth Profitt, Mark Groseclose, Kristen Groseclose, Julianna Rose Brown, Sara Marie Roark and Meghan Roark. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2010, at Holston Valley Baptist Church, 18396 Cleveland Rd. Abingdon, V with Pastor Paul Ketron officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Preston Brown, Dale Smeltzer, Buddy Harless, Tom Fizer, David Tignor and Kelly Groseclose. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Brown, Jeff Brown, David Counts and Renick Tuell. The family will receive friends at Farris Funeral Service, 427 E.
