Dora Orr Roop JONESVILLE, Va. Dora Orr Roop, 95, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Wellmont Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va. Dora was the oldest member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesville and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hagan Russell Roop; parents, Phillip Sheridan Orr and Mary Elizabeth Francis Orr; brothers, Dewey, John, Arvil, Nelson, and Howard Orr; three sisters, Rebecca Barnett, Gladys Mise and Margaret King; great-grandchildren, Braelyn and John Evan Fortner. She is survived by: daughter, Margaret Elkins and husband, Don of Jonesville; sons, Dennis Roop and wife, Betty of Denver, Colo., Wayne Roop and wife, Ty of Wytheville, Va.; grandsons, Kevin Roop and wife, Elna of Avon, Colo.; Che Roop, Wytheville, Michael Elkins and wife, Jennifer of Jonesville, Larry Elkins and wife, Anne of Blacksburg, Va., Steven Elkins of Blacksburg; granddaughters, Mia Massi and husband, Kevin of Charlotte, N.C., Sharon Fortner and husband, Johnny of Jonesville; great- grandchildren, Mikayla, Matthew and Jacob Elkins, Amelia Massi, Emma, Ava and Mia Fortner; brothers, Willard Orr and wife, Lillian of Norfolk, Va., Jimmy Orr and wife, Ruth of Roan Mountain, Tenn. Family receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville. Funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. James Meade and Rev. Mike Humfleet officiating. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. Those attending the graveside are asked to meet at the funeral home at noon to go to the cemetery in procession. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Jonesville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 439, Jonesville, VA 24263.
