Eric Baugher Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 1, 2010.
Eric Brandon Baugher Eric Brandon Baugher, 34, died peacefully Nov. 22, at his home in Silver Spring, Md., after a seven-year struggle with sarcoma. He was a graduate of Allegany High School, Cumberland, Md., and of St. Mary's College, St. Mary's City, Md.; he had a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Georgia. In his career as a landscape architect in Washington, D.C., he contributed to the design work on the Pentagon 9/11 Memorial. He is survived by his wife, Lauren Brandes, of Silver Spring; his mother, Mae Baugher, of LaVale, Md.; his father, Glynn Baugher, with partner, Mack Lovelace, of Emory, Va.; his sister, April Baugher and husband Jon Goetz, of Fremont, Calif.; his sister, Dawn Agostini and husband Dan, of Boonsboro, Md.; two nieces, Veronica Goetz and Samantha Agostini; one nephew, Ben Agostini; two aunts on his mother's side; two aunts and two uncles on his father's side, including Larry Baugher, of Meadowview, Va.; one great-uncle; numerous cousins; and his parents-in-law, Marcia and Steve Mills, of Atlanta. We, Eric's wife and family, want to thank especially his many friends from high school, college and graduate school who brought laughter, richness and comfort until the end. We also want to thank Memorial Sloan-Kettering in New York City, Johns Hopkins Medical Center and Hospice of Montgomery County, Md., for their care of our beloved son, brother and husband. Hospice's care we are truly grateful for, since it allowed him to spend his last weeks at home, surrounded by friends and family. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Md. Anyone desiring to do so may express appreciation for Eric's life by supporting a local Hospice. Eric was devoted to his wife, family and affectionate friends; to books, movies, and wry comedy; to gardening and cooking good things to eat. "When he was, death was not." May he rest in soft peace.

Glynn and Family, I want you all to know that I am thinking of you at this sad time in your lives. I had written a letter to Eric, but regretfully, hadn't mailed it yet. I did not know him, but felt as though I did, after reading letters from Glynn. You all are so lucky to have such a loving family to support each other.
