Evelyn Clevinger GRUNDY, Va. Evelyn Clevinger, 77 years of age, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at the Buchanan General Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Cansada Wood Clevinger. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of Bethlehem Old Regular Baptist Church No. 2. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Clevinger is survived by her husband, Estil Clevinger, Grundy, Va.; two daughters, Connie and husband Billy Shortridge of Grundy, Va., Debbie and husband Larry Bostic of Grundy, Va.; one son, Jimmy and wife Jennie (McClanahan) Clevinger of Grundy, Va.; one brother, Bert Junior Clevinger, Belfast, Va.; five grandchildren, Donita and husband Brian Allen, Grundy, Va., Christine and husband Michael Lester, Grundy, Va., Rhonda and husband Heath Cook, Lake Lure, N.C., Drema and husband Johnny Estep, Bristol Virginia, Jason and wife Lauren Clevinger, Bristol Tennessee. Also, survived by eight great-grandchildren, Justin Allen, Mekisha Allen, Haley Lester, Jadyn Lester, Joshua Estep, Kayla Estep, Courteney Cook and Jakob Clevinger, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters, Gertrude Fields, Nell Viers, Lucy Bartley, Eula Viers, Gladys Viers and Nona Ratliff; and three brothers, Bobby Jean Clevinger, Palmer Clevinger and Elmer Clevinger. Funeral Services for Evelyn Clevinger will be conducted Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at 12 noon at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elders, Howard Daniels, Roger Coleman, Larry Puckett, Kermit Wright, Jerry Overstreet and Teddy Honaker officiating with burial to follow in the Clevinger Cemetery, on Poplar Creek, Grundy, VA. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Friday evening at 6 p.m. with services Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. Active Pallbearers will be Justin Allen, Josh Estep, Brian Allen, Michael Lester, Heath Cook, Johnny Estep and Jason Clevinger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Osborne, Tony (Rex) Viers, Amel Clevinger, Kermit Clevinger, Billy Shortridge and Larry Bostic.
