Evelyn Snider "Tootsie" Berry

Evelyn "Tootsie" Snider Berry CHILHOWIE, Va. The Lord chose to embrace Evelyn Snider "Tootsie" Berry in his arms in all His glory on Dec. 22, 2010. She passed away at the Brian Center in Weber City, Va., after a brief illness. Evelyn, affectionately known as Tootsie, was a devoted wife and mother who was active in her church, community and any events involving her children or grandchildren. She was an active member of Mountain View United Methodist Church where she served as choir director for many years. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed expressing herself through painting and crafts. She graduated from James Madison University where she studied art and music. Tootsie was born on Aug. 7, 1928, to the late Kenneth Keith and Mame Virginia Snider. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Kelly W. Berry; two brothers, Charles Keith Snider and K.B. (Kenneth Beattie) Snider; one sister, Madelon Crockett. Mrs. Berry is survived by son, Steven Kelly Berry and wife Donna Sauls Berry and their children Kelly Ann and Megan of Springfield, Va.; son, Gregory Scott Berry and wife Pat Cline Berry and their children Leah and Cody of Marion, Va.; son, Jason Evans Berry and wife Lori Wimmer Berry and their children Amanda, Brad and Brett of Mooresville, N.C.; daughter, Madelon "Ginger" B. Helms and husband Barry Stephen Helms and their children Cody and Emily of Weber City, Va. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dewey "Bud" C. Crockett of Wytheville, Va. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 26, at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Chilhowie from 1 to 3 p.m. and the celebration of life service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Reverend John Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Mountain View United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1722, Chilhowie, VA 24319.
