Fontella Richardson

Fontella Shumate Richardson Rugby, Va. Fontella Shumate Richardson, age 80, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Va. She was the widow of Troy Wade Richardson. She was born Jan. 21, 1929, at Konnarock, Va., to the late Ken and Sarah Riddle Shumate. Surviving: two daughters and spouses, Marla and Steve Phillips of Rugby and Sheretta and Louis Conklin of Abingdon, Va.; two sons and spouses, Sherwood and Betty Richardson of Independence, Va., and Marlin and Fae Richardson of Rugby; nine grandchildren; six great--grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Epright of Pennsylvania, and Lillian Hayes of Konnarock, Va.; one brother and spouse, J.L. and Shirley Shumate of Shady Valley, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews also survives The body is at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m,. in Mill Creek United Methodist Church, Rugby. Rev. Joe Warren, Dwight Sells and Sherwood Richardson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church two hours preceding the service. Following the funeral service, at Mrs. Richardson's request, her body will be cremated. A graveside memorial service will he held Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Haw Orchard Cemetery, Rugby. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Twin County Hospice, P.O.
