Frank J. McGee PINEY FLATS, Tenn. Frank J. McGee, 88, died on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Telford, Tenn., a son of the late James McGee and Osa Conley McGee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sadie McGee and Kate Barnes; and brother, James McGee. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart award. He was the owner and operator of J and M Builders, member of the American Legion, and attended Faith Baptist Church in Blountville. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Betty McGee; sisters, Ruby Payne, Elizabeth Ferguson, both of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Ann White of Gray, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews, to include special nieces, Carol Chandley and husband Jerry and Betty Stevens and husband Jerry, who were also his caregivers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45 Tuesday evening, Oct. 5, 2010, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will at 8 with Rev. Eddie Zimmerman officiating. The committal service and interment will be held at 11 Wednesday morning in Glenwood Cemetery. Military rites will be presented by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Self, Roy Goforth, Joe Hart, and Bill Steadman. The family would like to extend a special thank you to James H,. Quillen V.A. Center and Amedisys Hospice for their care and support.
