Angie and Travis,
I am so sorry for your loss. I know how much Harold loved you both and how much you will miss him. He was my brother for so many years and to the end I always thought of him like my brother. My prayers will remain with you throughout the coming days as you make your peace and find the special place in your heart and mind to keep him with you always. I love you both.

Angie and Travis; I am really lost for words. I can't believe how fast our lives can be turned completely around. Just seems like a few days ago you and cuz was sharing our special day with me and Don. How precious. His memories will live on forever with me.A person who always had a smile no matter how much pain he was suffering. I hope he knew how much his Sykes family loved him. I don't know if Don and me will be able to attend the memorial service, things have been a bit tough here lately. Please know how much our family appreciates you for being such a wonderful companion and care taker for Harold, we will never forget you for that. Know we love you , always keep us in your heart and if we can help you in any way, you have my phone number.

I am so very sorry. I had no idea until now. Harold was my best friend for many years in Damascus. He was my pal and I will cherish those memories. Loved him like a brother. He always smiled and laughed no matter what. He stood up for me in many situations back in the day in Damascus. Again, I am so sorry and shocked. Lisa Nash Wilhelm

Angie & Travis: Our hearts have been hurting along with yours in this sad time. We will all miss Harold terribly. Cling to the good memories you both have of him. His smile and sense of humor was contagious. Remember how much he loved you both. Our separation from Harold will be only a short time in comparison to eternity that we'll have with him. Trust in God for strength to carry you through this loss. HE cares and HE wants to comfort you.

Angie,
So sorry for your loss. Skeeter was "one of a kind" and he will certainly be missed by all, especially the VDOT guys. We are all lost without his smile and sense of humor. Cherish those memories that you have of him.

Angie, I'm soooo very sorry I can't be there to honor Harold's life on the 26th. His whole life and demeanor was inspirational to me, and I loved him like a brother... I especially admired his steely strength, both inside and out - and his ability to stay calm in the face of disaster, or chaos. I know all of us felt a little safer when he was around back in the old Damascus days.
He was also responsible for the difference between a good night, and a bad one for me many a time over the decades when I was playing somewhere in Washington County. He would jump on the phone, and call out the gang, and next thing I knew, I'd go from 3-4 people in the audience to a whole roomful in about 15 minutes time! That meant a lot to me, (and the people I worked for), and I always appreciated his dedication to helping me put all his friends in the seats where ever I played. He added security to my job, which is no small thing, and I will always be grateful to him for that.
I don't know if anyone had told you or not, but I live in Myrtle Beach now, and circumstances here with my vehicle, and the lack of work are going to prevent me from being home for Christmas. But I want you to know that I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, and that if there were any way possible, I would be there on the 26th. Please know that I'll be there with you in mind and spirit, and wish you peace always ....

I'm so very sorry to hear of the loss of Harold. I worked with him years ago at VDOT. He always had a smile on his face and was a great friend when I worked there. May you take comfort knowing he is in the arms of the angels now.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Angie and Travis, during your difficult time and loss.
Please know that I am here if I can be of any assistance to you.
It was a pleasure working with Harold; he will be missed at VDOT but not forgot. I will most remember his strong will and positive attitude, even in the most difficult moments of his life; I was so touched during my last visit with Harold when he expressed his sincere concern and thoughts for another when he was experiencing so much pain himself. My memories of him will always be one of inspiration.
May your faith and your memories of Harold bring you comfort and peace during this time.
