Henry Clinton "H.C." Dempsey Henry Clinton "H.C." Dempsey, age 86, passed away Nov. 30, 2010, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. H.C. was born in Bluff City, Tenn., in 1924 to the late William P. Dempsey and Josie Malone Dempsey. He was preceded in death by his brother, A.D. Dempsey; and three half- sisters, Bess Malone, Dewey McKinny and Mary Milhorn. He attended Bluff City schools and was an Army veteran of World War II, where he saw service in Italy, where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from Bill Gatton as a mechanic in 1986. In later years, H.C. enjoyed gardening and going to Lowes to shop. Survivors include: his wife Shirley F. Dempsey of Bristol Tennessee; his son, Terry E. Dempsey of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one niece, Sue Kirkpatrick of Bluff City; and three nephews, Donnie Malone of Bluff City, David Dempsey of Blountville and Bobby Dempsey of Piney Flats; one brother-in-law, Don Fleenor and wife Wave of Mendota; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Fleenor of Bristol Virginia, and Patsy Dempsey of Johnson City. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Jack Bowery officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The American Heart Association (http://honor.americanheart.org ); or The American Diabetes Association (http://www.diabetes.org). Honorary pallbearers are Paul H. Burnette, Robert Bushong, Mike Fleming, Neil Powers, Anthony Golden, Conley Cross, Larry Smith and Don Fleenor.
