Herbert Henry Tate ABINGDON, Va. Herbert Henry Tate, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at Bristol Nursing Home. He lived most of his life in the Wyndale community of Abingdon and was a member of Wyndale United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anne McCracken Tate; and three brothers, Coy, Wiley and James Tate. Survivors included his daughters, Carolyn Tate and Jane Tyree, both of Abingdon; one brother, Paul Tate of Bristol Virginia; four sisters, Faye Dye of Mendota, Betty Marie Mitchell of Bluff City, Tenn., Alma Stophel of Bristol Tennessee, and Patsy Brewer of Bristol Virginia; one grandson, Tech. Sgt. John David Tyree of Dover, Del. Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at 3 p.m. at the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, with Rev. Amy Bartee officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Shortt, Wilton Hilt, Rodney Warren, Don Watkins, Junior Roark, and Fred Osborne. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice; or the Activities Department at Bristol Nursing Home, c/o Pat Nash, 261 North St., Bristol, TN 37620.
