Iloe Stallard Obituary

Iloe Read Stallard WISE, Va. Iloe Read Stallard passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2010, at her home. Born and reared in Appalachia, Va., she was a retired educator and farmer and was a member of the Wise Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she was active in many church, community and professional organizations. She served on the Lonesome Pine Regional Library Board of Trustees and the UVA Wise Foundation Board. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and a charter member of the Alpha Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burchell "Slew" Stallard; parents, Henry and Ethel Kleineick Read; sisters, Margie Read Bishop and Ida Read; and a special uncle and aunt, E.C. and Ruble K. Blakemore. Surviving are a niece, Elaine Clark and husband Eddie, and their daughter, Christina; a nephew, Clifton Bishop and wife Sara, and their son, Caldwell; cousins, S.O. Reece and wife Nell, and their daughter, Carla, and her children, Mary Kleineick and her son, David, Kathryn Kleineick, Donald Kleineick and wife Dottie, and their son, Erny, and their daughter, April. Iloe was especially blessed with many friends, including very special friends, Luke and Lance Collie, Sophie and Chloe Prince, Graham Kennedy and Tristen Barnett; and her loving and special caregivers, Debra Wharton, Donna Palmer, Mistie Mullins and Cristal Meade. Graveside services for Iloe Read Stallard will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at the Nash Cemetery on Coeburn Mountain Road in Wise, Va., with John Tull, Sam Wharton, Jim Collie and Ray Jones speaking. Burial will follow. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to be made to the Iloe and Burchell Stallard Scholarship Fund, UVA-Wise Foundation, Office of Development, 1 College Ave., Wise, VA 24293. Sturgill Funeral Home, 1621 Norton Road, SW, Wise, VA 24293, is in charge of arrangements.
