Jerry Wayne Smith SALTVILLE, Va. Jerry Wayne Smith, age 69, lost his battle with Parkinson's Disease Sunday Nov. 15, 2009, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. Jerry was treasured as a husband, father, grandfather and friend to all he met. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Frances Smith; sister, Doris Ann Price; and brother, Bobby Lee Smith. Survivors: his wife of 46 years, Sue "Pepsi" Smith; three daughters, Teresa and Mike Crawford, Saltville, Amy and Glen Wheeler, Atkins, Va., Donna and Brad Collins, Saltville; five grandchildren, Curtis, Jessica and Tessa Crawford Harrison and Alex Wheeler; mother-in-law, Ruth Smith, Saltville; many special brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Roger "P-nut" Frye, who he loved as a son. Funeral services for Jerry W. Smith will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, with the Rev. Benny Frye, Rev. Reynolds Frye and Rev. Bob Surber officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.
