JIMMY C. YATES

Jimmy C. Yates HAYSI, Va. Jimmy Clayton Yates, age 59,of Dickenson Highway, passed away Friday, June 25, 2010, at his home. Born in Dickenson County, he was a son of the late Cecil and Rosie Hackney Yates. He was self employed with Haysi Monument Co. and Yates Construction. Mr. Yates was previously employed with Haysi Funeral Home for 38 years, a former member of Haysi Rescue Squad and Haysi Volunteer Fire Dept., a past member of Haysi Eagles Club, Haysi Moose Lodge and Haysi Lions Club, and was active in Dickenson County Kids Fishing Day and was a member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church. Jim was an avid motorcyclist and a loving father, grandfather and loyal friend to people all over the United States. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Yates, and a sister, Anna Lee Fields. Survivors include his wife, Jeanie; two daughters, Marsha (Paul) Viers of Abingdon, Va., and Kristy Deel of Haysi; three grandsons, Nicholas A. Viers, Zachary R. Viers and Logan S. Deel (Papaw's boy); three brothers, Elder Earl Dean (Darlene) Yates of Clintwood, Va., Billy T. (Pinkie) Yates of Haysi, and Jeffrey (Diane) Yates of Vansant; a sister, Shirley Yates of Haysi; several nieces and nephews; also special friend, Jack Rose and Darla Bostic, whom he loved like a daughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church with Danny Sluss officiating. Burial will follow in the Yates Cemetery, Haysi, Va. Pallbearers will be Paul, Nick and Zack Viers, Logan Deel and Bill and Eric Ratliff. Visitation will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the church.
