Joe Billings Obituary

Joe W. Billings Sr. ROCK FALLS, Ill. Joe W. Billings Sr, 95,died Saturday Nov. 20, 2010, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home. He was born on Jan. 22, 1915, in Chilhowie, Va., the son of Ambrose Blaine and Amy (Duncan) Billings. He married Bradley Lockie Duncan on July 18, 1936, in Welch, W.Va. Mr. Billings was employed as a guard at the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company in Sterling retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Rock Falls Evangelical Congregational Church. Surviving is his wife; one son, Joe W. (Alice) Billings Jr. of Sterling; one sister, Ruby (David) Duncan of Sterling; one brother, Tom (Betty) Billings of Rock Falls; four grandchildren, Jeff (Roxanne) Billings, Jerry (Mindy) Billings, Joe (Dawn) Billings and Jaini Ammon; nine great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with the Reverend Dennis Buss officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in his memory to the Rock Falls Evangelical Congregational Church.
