Karen Lee O'Neal BRISTOL, Tenn. Karen Lee O'Neal, age 60, went home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Oct. 20, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 22, 1949, in Montgomery, Pa., a daughter of the late James Burns Sr. and Carrie Mae Isabella Imeral Burns. She lived most of her life in the Bristol area and was a former employee of Concord Custom Cleaners. Karen was a charter member of Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Circle at church. She bowled in the Monday Night Church League and the Thursday Night Ladies League. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandchildren, Bayleigh and Ryleigh Shaffer. Survivors include: husband, J. Paul "Opie" O'Neal; son, Robbie O'Neal and wife Marisa; daughter, Tara O'Neal Marsh and husband James; brothers, Art Burns and wife Judy, Jimmy Burns and wife Bev; sister, Louise Margolina and husband Gary; four grandchildren, Briana "Bre" O'Neal, Alex O'Neal, Dalton O'Neal and Emily Faith O'Neal; one step-grandchild, Jamey Marsh; special friend, Marty Hudlow, whom she thought of as a son; very special dog, Bubbles; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express a special thanks to her cancer doctor, Dr. Alton Blow, and the staff at Wellmont Hospice House. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at 8 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rick Light and Pastor Larry C. Morelock officiating. The burial will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Eastern Heights Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7:45 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Marty Hudlow, Mark Barr, Mike Breuninger, Wayne O'Neal, Jamey Burns and Richard Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex O'Neal and Dalton O'Neal. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 431 Old Jonesboro Road, Bristol, TN 37620; or Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.

Paul, Robbie, Tara and family, I was so very sorry to hear of Karen's passing. I have not seen any of you for many years, but remember all the good times we use to have at SHLL field and in the neighborhood. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Please lean on God for your peace and comfort, he has been there for me recently and will help you through this. Love you all,

I met Karen when she and my sister, Jo Gragg, were the greatest of friends. Jo passed away almost 4 years ago and we still miss her an awful lot. Karen was a kind and caring person and was always so sweet. May the good Lord be with her family in this time of sorrow.
