Larry Allen Smith CEDAR BLUFF, Va. On Sept 3, 2010, Larry Allen Smith went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Larry was 60 years old and resided in Raven's Nest Branch section of Cedar Bluff, Va. his entire life. Larry was much beloved by so many throughout his life. He loved people and was always ready to help a friend in need. He was a devoted husband, father, "papaw", brother, and son. Larry loved God, his family, and his friends. He had a heart for people and loved to joke and tease. He was also a lover of bluegrass music. Larry liked to work hard and worked two jobs most of the time. He worked for S & S Machinery. He was a member of the UMWA and worked for Jewel Ridge Mining Company at Seaboard No. 1 mine for 11 years. Larry was a mason and a carpenter and a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church at Cedar Bluff. He was friends and partners in business with Mark Shortt with KMS Contracting for many years. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Caleb and Ethel Smith; paternal grandparents, John and Lucy Smith, and his maternal grandparentsm Riley and Mintie Lowe. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Doris Lowe Smith; children Mark Allen Smith of Greenville, Va., and Lindsay Smith Pellatt and husband, Bryan, of Lexington Park, Md.; grandchildren Laura Abigail (Abby) Smith of the home, and Carrie and Caleb Pellatt; sister, Carolyn Miller of Roanoke, Va.; brother, Clayton Smith and wife, Debbie, of Cedar Bluff; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Mr. Larry Allen Smith will be conducted at 2p.m. Monday Sept. 6, 2010, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, with Pastor Rick Herald officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va. Nephews will serve as Pallbearers. Special Thanks to Legacy Hospice and Care Givers. The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Sunday.
