Lena Mae Strong Ferguson BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. Lena Mae Strong Ferguson, 75, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at her residence. Lena was born in Scott County, Va., and lived most of her life there before moving to Kingsport in 2007. She was retired from Eastman after over 35 years of service in the acid division. Lena was a member of Apostolic Lighthouse Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ferguson; her parents, George W. Strong and Bessie Perkins Strong; her sisters, Mannie Lewis, Beatrice Strong and Alba Gibson; her brothers, Willard Strong and Marion Strong and an infant brother. She is survived by her son, David Strong and wife April of Blountville; four grandchildren, Donnie Pruitt, Shane Redman, Lydia Redman and Jessica Strong; three great- grandchildren; one sister, Ostia Barber, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Elmer Strong and wife Kate of Bristol Virginia, and Frank Strong of Gate City, Va.; special friends, Tony and Brenda Salyer of Kingsport, and Heidi Grills of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and also a large church family. The family will receive friends from 5 -7 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 6, 2010, at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 U.S. Highway 23N, Weber City, VA. A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Vicars, Rev. Phil Christian and Rev. David Brown officiating. Music will be provided by the Christian Family and Kandice Barnett. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Sumpter, Alan Jones, Jerry Vicars, Jerry Carter and Dee Griffin. Memorial may be sent to Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 145 Shipp Springs Road, Kingsport, TN, 37660.
