Lewis Combs Sr.

Lewis A. Combs Sr. BRISTOL, Tenn. Lewis A. Combs Sr., 89, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Abingdon, Va., and had made his home in Bristol since 1949. He was the son of the late William and Nora Martin Combs. He was a member and Deacon of Fellowship Chapel. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from the Mead Corporation after 38 years of service. He was also a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mildred Hubbard Combs; one son, Lewis A. Combs Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Bryce King of Kingsport, Tenn., and Aline Greer of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Candice O. Combs and Luther "Nick" Combs; four great-grandchildren, Camryn Combs, Joseph Combs, Caleb Combs and Abigail Combs and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, in Fellowship Chapel with Rev. Scott Price officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from the Deacons of the church. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining Deacons of the church. The committal service and entombment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Military Rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at Fellowship Chapel prior to the service.
