Linard Hubbard SWORDS CREEK, Va. Mr. Linard Hubbard, age 71, of the Pine Creek section, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, in a Richlands, Va., hospital. Born Aug. 26, 1938, in Russell County, Va., he was a son of the late Edward Roy and Viola Dye Hubbard. A lifelong resident of the area, he was a member of Pine Creek Holiness Church. A member of UMWA Local 7327, he had been employed by Pittston Coal Company with 27 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Breedlove and James Robinette. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Zeola Richardson Hubbard of the home; one daughter, Charlotte Hess and husband Blaine of Rosedale; two sons, Hubert Hubbard and wife Kathy of Swords Creek and Doug Hubbard and wife Jennifer of Rosedale; six grandchildren, Adam Hubbard, Morgan Hubbard, David Hess, Kaitlen Hubbard, Kelly Hess and Chandler Hubbard; two step-grandchildren, Shawn Ward and wife Anita and Bonita Cole; five sisters, Estell Dye, Truedell Dye and husband Rafty, Vernell Dye and husband Jerry and Brenda Dye and husband Randall, all of Swords Creek, and Gaynell Dye of Honaker; three brothers, Glen Hubbard and wife Dorothy, Ed Hubbard and wife Mattie, and Dallas Hubbard and wife Geraldine, all of Swords Creek; special friend, Bill Whited; four step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. T. Patel and the staff of Clinch Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Creek Holiness Church at Swords Creek with Rev. Jim Richardson and Rev. Chris Musick officiating. Interment will follow in the Richardson Cemetery at Swords Creek. Pallbearers will be Adam Hubbard, Morgan Hubbard, David Hess, Chandler Hubbard, Claude Dotson, Allen Richardson, Rafty Dye, Bill Whited and Randall Hess. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
