Marie Blevins King RURAL RETREAT, Va. Marie Blevins King, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at the Francis Marion Manor. Mrs. King was born in Grayson County, Va., to the late Thomas and Lura Blevins and was preceded in death by her husband James Hoover King; a daughter, Imogene Blevins; a grandson, Wayne Blevins; two brothers, Albert and Earl Blevins; four sisters, Blanche Russell, Mabel Vernon, Wilma Rotenberry and Paris Shelton. Marie was a long time member of the Lincoln Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the Southwestern State Hospital in Marion. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bennie King and wife Kathy, Rural Retreat; one sister, Ruby Woods, Marion; seven grandchildren including a special grandson, Michael King and wife Tammy; two great-grandchildren, James and Matthew King; several great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Glen King and wife Mary; special nieces, Sherry and Janet; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members also survive. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, at the Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Otis Barker and Brother Frank Yarber officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
