Mary Olive McChesney BRISTOL, Va. Mary Olive McChesney, 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va., following an extended illness. She was born in Greenville, S.C., on June 26, 1922, to the late Joseph Gabriel Walker and Olive Jones Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Alice McLauchlin. Mary was a loving and a devoted wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Charles S. McChesney; daughter, Marcia Norwood and husband Al Norwood of Washington, N.C; sons, Joe McChesney and wife Rhonda Jones McChesney of Seymour, Tenn.., Lee McChesney and wife Robin Robinson McChesney of Cleveland, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Adam and wife Debbie McChesney, Blake and wife Stephanie McChesney, and Callie McChesney, all of Seymour, Courtney Norwood of Washington, N.C., Ben McChesney and Katelyn McChesney of Cleveland, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren, Abbie McChesney, Luke McChesney, Blaine McChesney and Aiden McChesney, all of Seymour; brother, Dr. Joseph Walker and wife Betty Jo Walker of Black Mountain, N.C..; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Wednesday evening, Nov. 3, 2010, at Blevins Funeral and Cremation Services. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. David Wadsworth officiating. The committal service and interment will follow in Green Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam McChesney, Blake McChesney, and Ben McChesney, and David Hobson, Bill Penny and Ed Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to James M. and Lula McChesney Memorial Scholarship Fund at King College, 1350 King College Road, Bristol, TN 37620; or a charity of your choice.
