Melvin F. Allison SALTVILLE, Va. Melvin F. Allison, age 92, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at his home. He was born July 16, 1918, to the late Albert W. Allison and Mary Walls Allison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Lee Taylor Allison; one brother, Herman Allison; and one sister, Maxie Cannon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Survivors include two sons, Kyle W. "Skip" Allison and wife Rebecca of Bristol Virginia, and Allen F. Allison of Saltville, Va.; one brother, Anthony Allison and wife Carla, Portsmouth, Va.; three sisters, Evelyn and husband Kyle Hayden, Saltville, Marie Hayden, Glade Spring, Va., and Corrina and husband Kyle Woodward of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one grandson, Michael W. Allison; two granddaughters, Lisa Surber and husband Jim, Nikki Allison; one great-granddaughter, Beth Surber; and two great-grandsons, Chris Allison, Dylan Waddell; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Melvin Allison will be on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Mount Rose Cemetery with his brother- in-law, Rev. John Taylor officiating and will include military rites.
