Myrl Vance Smith RICHLANDS, Va. Mrs. Myrl Vance Smith, age 86, passed away Saturday May 22, 2010, at her home following an extended illness. Born in Richlands, Va., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Joyce Vance. She was a retired L.P.N. for the Clinch Valley Clinic Hospital at Richlands and she and her husband operated the Jamboree Hill Music Park at Short Gap, Va. She was a member of the First Christian Church at Richlands, Va. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Link Smith; four sisters, Kathleen Vandyke, Beatrice Badger, Thelma Shortt and Lobellia Vance; three brothers, Gene Vance, Wayne Vance and Roy Vance; and a special sister-in-law, Virgie Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, William (Pete) Vance and wife Frances of Cedar Bluff, Va.; two grandchildren, Chad Vance and wife Jody of Blacksburg, Va., and Kristie Harless and husband Scott of Salem, Va.; one step granddaughter, Kathy Foy of Pittsburg, Pa.; four great-grandsons; two step great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Myrl Vance Smith will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va., with Rev. Stafford Compton and Evangelist Bob Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery at Short Gap, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
