Nancy Helen Dunaway Garrett BRISTOL, Tenn. Nancy Helen Dunaway Garrett, age 89, passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Wellmont Hospice House. She was born January 27, 1921, in Anderson County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Westley and Allie Massengill Dunaway. She has lived in the Bristol area since 1959 and was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curwood Garrett; and sisters, Artie Smith, Allie Lee Gilreath and Shirley Brooks. Survivors include: sisters, Lillian Carroll, Jean Hutton and husband Billy, Georgia Osborne and husband William; brother-in-law, Cecil Brooks; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church with Dr. James Oxendine and Dr. William Houck officiating. The burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandnephews, Sidney Fannon, Micah Caronna, Joshua Caronna, Neal Clark, Joseph Suo, Chris Bays and Bobby Rhea. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Weaver Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church at 1127 Virginia Ave. Bristol, TN 37620 and American Cancer Society at 508 Princeton Rd. Suite 102 Johnson City, TN 37601. Online condolences may be registered at www.weaverfuneralhome.net Arrangements have been made with Weaver Funeral Home.
