Roy Thomas Farrow MOUNTAIN CITY, Tenn. Roy Thomas Farrow, age 82, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born on May 12, 1928 in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late James Thomas Farrow and Lilly Agnus Durant Farrow. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judy Kay Farrow; sisters, Ruth Enix, Ruby Biddle, and Linda Farrow; four brothers, Bob, Bill, Marvin, and Jerry Farrow; and a son-in-law, Tommy Smythe. Roy served as a pastor for 52 years at several Christian churches in the southeast. Roy's love for his Lord came first and he would go out of his way to help others. He was a carpenter for many years and enjoyed working with wood. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Inez Arlene Farrow; daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn Ann and David Whipple of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Wanda Mae Smythe of Bristol Tennessee; sons and daughters-in-law, David Thomas and Debbie Farrow of Garland, Texas, Danny Wayne and Tammy Farrow of Mountain City, Darrel Lane and Lynn Farrow of Deep Gap, N.C., and Dale Allen and Jill Farrow of Mountain City; sisters, Betty Gray of Lexington, Ky., and Nancy Caudill of Elsmere, Ky.; brothers, Jim Farrow of Cabot, Ark., and Ronald Farrow of Walton, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, David Whipple, Mark Whipple and wife, Debbie, David Farrow II and wife, Jennifer, Brett Farrow, Kevin Smythe, Becky Smythe, Danny Farrow II and wife, Kayla, Joshua Farrow, Nicole Farrow, Eric Farrow and wife, Mikah, Brandon Farrow and wife, Tequila, Jennifer Farrow, Jeremy Farrow and wife, Amanda, and Christopher Farrow; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Farrow, Christopher Whipple, Morgan Whipple, Julia Smith, Will Smith, Alexis Juarez, Madisyn Farrow and Haidyn Farrow; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, from the Mountain City Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. with Jim Hutchinson and Lawrence Harris, ministers, to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Jean Canter. Graveside service and interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery with Bill Reece and C. D. 'Bud' Gentry, ministers, to officiate. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and Calvin Williams. Honorary pallbearers are Preston Corbin, Bill Reece, and Daniel Jones. The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain City Care Center and Johnson County Rescue Squad for their wonderful care. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN 37683. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home, 2000 Crossroads Drive, Apt D-2, Mountain City, TN 37683 The family of Roy Thomas Farrow has entrusted his services to Mountain City Funeral Home, 224 S. Church Street, Mountain City, TN 37683.
