Samuel G. Price CASTLEWOOD, Va. Samuel G. Price, 86, of the Gravel Lick community, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Salem, Va. He was born on Copper Ridge in Castlewood, son of the late John Thomas and Catherine McCalley Price. He was preceded in death by four sisters; and three brothers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving honorably in World War II as a member of the 82 Airborne Division. He worked in sales and construction and was a lover of gardening, bird watching and checker playing. He was a devoted husband and father and will be remembered lovingly for his story telling and enjoyment of humor. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Vena G. Price; two daughters, Mary Margaret Kiser and Gail Price; one son, Samuel G. Price Jr. and wife, Gretchen; three grandchildren, Kimberly Rose and husband, David, Brandon Price, and Patty Kiser - Derick; two great- grandsons, Ayden Rose and Dalton Derick; and many beloved friends. Funeral services for Samuel G. Price will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, with Mr. Elmer Wood officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood. The family welcomes all who remember Sam fondly.
