Theodore R. "Ted" Calhoun Sr. NEWARK, Del. Theodore R. "Ted" Calhoun Sr., age 86, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010. Born on Nov. 15, 1923, in Green Cove, Va., Mr. Calhoun was the son of the late John P. and Lula Mae Woods Calhoun. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and proud of his service to his country. He retired from the State of Delaware, where he was an operating engineer for DelDOT. He loved being with his family. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Edith E. Calhoun, the daughter of the late Emmit and Bertha Arnold of Bristol Tennessee; children, Theodore R. Calhoun Jr. and wife, Arlene, Donna Wood and husband, James, all of Newark, Del., and Peggy Lynam and husband, Ronald, Clayton, Del.; grandchildren, Ronald Lynam Jr., Rhonda Burns, Chris Calhoun, Rebecca Wood and Jim Wood; great-grandchildren, Madison and Olivia Lynam, and Meredith and Robert Burns III; siblings, John P. Calhoun, Bear, Del., Virginia Waddell, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 7, in the chapel at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, Del., with military honors by American Legion Mason-Dixon Post No. 194, Rising Sun, Md. Interment will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, or the American Cancer Society, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, MD 21921.
